Mom-Chris

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to get my weight to even out and it seems to be. I lost a lot when I was sick and then I gained some when I went down to Saint George on vacation. I have been fairly steady at 164 for about the last week. So I did feel like I made my June goal of losing five pounds. And I got a fancy hair cut when I was down with the girls. July slipped by me. I have tried to keep a journal and I am good at it for a week or two and then I stop. I don't know why writing down my food is so hard for me to keep up with. Anyway, my goal for August is to lose another five pounds. My reward is going to be buying me a new shirt.
Heather gave me a really great receipe for taco salad. If anyone wants it I would be happy to share. I have to say that having some time for myself this summer has been really good for me. I have been able to think more about my health and enjoy quiet time.
One thing that really seems to be helping me not be so hungry all the time is watching how much carbs and sugar that I eat. If I over eat carbs I crave more and I am hungry more often and need more. So I try to save most of my carbs for dinner when I will be going to bed soon and I don't have those late afternoon binges. Try it maybe it will help you to.
I had a wonderful time going to Saint George this summer and being with all of you there. My family is the best and all of you are very special. I love you all and hope things are going well for everyone.

This is so exciting, I love doing this with my family!
For the last two weeks I'm still at 165. I got 5 journals the first week, and 7 last week.
Thanks for everyone's support and participation. This is really helping my motivation!

Hello everyone,

Since I haven't been feeling well I haven't done very good at keeping my journal. I will start it up again this week. I have lost some weight but am afraid that it will all come back as soon as I start eating normal again. It was very exciting to get back into the blog and see everyone's news. I love you all.
I have decided that my reward when I get to my goal weight will be a new swimsuit. I still haven't decided on some short term goals. The only things that I can think of include food. Keep the ideas coming and everyone keep up the good work.

Weight: 165
Journal Progress: 7 points this week!
June Goal: Lose 5 lbs- I decided that this was too vague for me to keep up with, so in my food journal I make a 2 day goal and try to stick with that and it has been easier to remember and keep track!
Reward: New piano music. I'm still deciding between the Simplified Hymns, A bigger children's hymnbook, and the Suzuki piano accompaniment :)

Mom and Dad are excused  due to their current circumstances! We love you guys and are thankful that you are well. I can't wait to hear everyone's progress towards improving their health, and any other good news going on in life!

As for me, I played my violin in sacrament Sunday. I now play organ every 5th Sunday, May was my first month and it went pretty good. I played hymns made easy, the book one step easier than simplified hymns! And, I have my first Geology test this Thursday! I'm so excited to be in Manti this weekend and I hope we get to see everyone!

Good Luck and have another great week!

Since I am completly new to blogging you will all have to help me learn how to use this. I am also very excited to start on this get healthy year with all of you. You don't need to post your food journals. Just keep track of the points or days that you fill one out. It would be great if you wanted to post tips, receipes, or any other advice that you have to help us all along. I hope that we can all be each others cheerleaders. Since we are all in different places we will all have different goals but we can still all help each other along.

An idea I read in a new diet book I bought. It says that we need to write down some affirmations to help us with our new goals. I thought of a few and will share them. You are supposed to read them at least three times a day and whenever you are struggling. You could also get on the blog and read about everyone else and how they are doing.
"I love my life and every day of it is a blessing."
"Eating fresh, wholesome food makes me look and feel great."
"I have enough time in my day to take care of my health."
"I am importnat and therefore my health is important."
You can use these or make up your own.

I love you all

Here We GO!

http://alewis.php.cs.dixie.edu/foodjournal.zip
This is link to a sample Food Journal that I created and printed for myself. You can use it, change it, print, use online, or whatever you'd like! As soon as you all can get onto the blog, we'll post our weight every Monday, along with an amount of points for the food journal.(It's one point a day, so 7 total each week). Mom also wants to post monthly goals, for example: For the rest of June your goal could be to lose 5 lbs. or go to the gym everyday. This step will also include an individually established reward if you reach your goal. As far as we've discussed, this won't be a competition, just a place to be held accountable to people that we know and love and celebrate the small successes. Which will hopefully be motivating enough to help us all make positive changes in our lives! If there's anything I left out, we can always modify and change, so good luck and share all of your ideas! Love you all!
